SkillsServe 4.30 Release Notes

 

Overview


We’ve been busy at Unicorn Training and we’re pleased to announce that SkillsServe 4.30 launched in November 2014 with a number of enhancements to the platform.

What’s new in this version?


Changes to Appraisal/Form Workflows

Benefits We’ve added two new workflows that can be used when creating a form template.

These can be used for new scenarios like using forms for surveys and sharing training needs, opening up possibilities beyond appraisals and T&C schemes.

We’ve also added the option for managers to add a score and pass status to form enabling paper based assignments or free-form question assessments.
   
How it works

The two new workflows are:

  • user > manager > complete
  • user > complete

These are selected when you create a new form.

User Manager Workflow 

The user-> complete workflow allows users to submit a form and mark it as complete themselves, much like a survey.

When setting up a form template you can select the option “Form will be marked by manager”; this adds the option to input a mark and a status of pass or fail when signing the form off.

Manage Field Visibility in Forms

Benefits It’s now possible to control who can see specific fields in forms. This can be used in scenarios like having ratings in appraisals or providing additional manager guidance notes.
   
How it works When creating a form template and adding a “standard section item” you can now decide whether or not the user and/or manager will see the text in this new item.

Prevent Users from Viewing Completed Forms

Benefits We’ve added the option to prevent users from seeing a form once they’ve submitted it to their manager as part of the workflow. This is useful for free-form assessments where you might not want users to see the assessment questions once completed.
   
How it works By using the option “Prevent users from viewing submitted form” an administrator can now choose whether a user can see a form or appraisal after they have submitted it back to their manager. Users are also unable to view the form/appraisal once it’s been completed and the workflow’s been fulfilled.

Form Change History

Benefits It’s now possible to see the changes made by the other participant in a form workflow, such as seeing what the user has changed since the last review cycle in an appraisal.
   
How it works When the feature is enabled users can open the form via their training plan after it has been submitted to their manager, this will present them with a snapshot of the form or appraisal as it was when it was submitted to the manager. Any consequent changes will only be visible to the user once the form has been submitted back to them.

Exporting More Data from Reports to Excel

Benefits We’ve now enhanced the Excel downloading from reports. It will now include all records in Excel 2007+ format. This ensures any non-standard characters are displayed correctly in the downloaded file.
   
How it works Simply use the export option when running a report and select XLS (Excel) or XLSX (Excel 2007+) to download the new Excel format.
