SkillsServe 4.13 Release Notes


Overview


We’re pleased to announce SkillsServe 4.13 launched in February 2014.


What’s new in this version?

User Specific Pricing

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the purchasing options in SkillsServe.
How it works… Administrators can now set multiple prices on an activity for each configured currency. These can be assigned to user groups, displaying different prices to different people. For instance if your SkillsServe site has a membership group, you can set up one price for members and another for non-members.
If two prices are available to a user, the cheapest will be shown by default.

Specific Pricing
Why is this beneficial? This allows for prices to be more flexible and relative to certain groups of users on SkillsServe.
Default or configurable? This is a default part of SkillsServe for sites which support payment options for activities.

 



Accessing Content via Find Learning / Catalogue

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the Catalogue of courses in SkillsServe.
How it works… When viewing an activity in the Catalogue / Find Learning section clicking the Launch button will automatically register users to the course as it opens the activity. This applies to activities which users are able to register themselves to.

Why is this beneficial? This feature saves users time between registering for courses and launching them, helping to make SkillsServe more user-friendly.

SkillsServe 4.12 Release Notes

We’re pleased to announce SkillsServe 4.12 launched in February 2014.


What’s new in this version?

Payment Authorisation Codes Are Now Reportable

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the SkillsServe reporting system.
   
How it works… There are now two additional fields when creating a report using Booking Payment as the data source.

Why is this beneficial? These two fields give extra information on payments that are made via SkillsServe and helps with record keeping.
   
Default or configurable? This feature is included in SkillsServe 4.12 by default. Please speak to your account manager for further information.

SkillsServe 4.11 Release Notes


Overview


We’re pleased to announce SkillsServe 4.11 launched in February 2014.


What’s new in this version?

Google Maps in Events
Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the way Events are displayed in SkillsServe.
   
How it works… You can now configure the top level domain extension in the Google Maps link to better reflect the location of Events. When clicking on the postcode in the location details section of an Event, SkillsServe will automatically direct you to Google Maps detailing where the Event is being held.  So, for instance, you can configure the link to end in .co.uk, .com, .es, .de or whatever top level domain you want it to end with.

Why is this beneficial? This can help to avoid any potential confusion between addresses in America (.com) and other countries. If you are predominantly UK based, for instance, you may prefer that your users view the UK version of Google Maps.

SkillsServe 4.10 Release Notes


Overview

We’re pleased to announce SkillsServe 4.10 launched in early February 2014.

What’s new in this version?

New Question Bank Management Functionality

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the management of question banks in SkillsServe.
How it works… You can create and manage your own question banks.

To upload question banks use our question template file. To update questions, download the bank, make edits offline in a tool like Microsoft Excel and upload your changes.

Whenever you update a question, the previous version is maintained ensuring the integrity of previous assessment results. New attempts will see the updated question.

Why is this beneficial? Managing question banks is simple. You can see the questions that you’ve uploaded easily and quickly. Being able to download questions makes editing simple as they’re in the correct format to upload. And the ability to keep your source question banks provides extra peace of mind.

SkillsServe 4.9 Release Notes

We’re pleased to announce SkillsServe 4.9 launched in late January 2014.

What’s new in this version?



Sage Pay Payment Provider
Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the payment system in SkillsServe
How it works… SkillsServe now supports Sage Pay, as well as WorldPay

Why is this beneficial? This provides an additional payment method for courses.
Default or configurable? This is a configurable feature in SkillsServe 4.9. Please speak to your account manager for more details.



Activity Email Reminders can be configured to be sent on registrations only

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to SkillsServe’s email system
How it works… When adding an Email Reminder for an activity via the Content Manager, you can now send a customised email when a user first registers.

Why is this beneficial? As you can write the email yourself, it’s more personalised than the system-generated alternative. Registration emails for specific activities with additional information can be added to the current system-generated emails.
Default or configurable? This feature is automatically available in SkillsServe 4.9 for sites



Same Sign-On Implementation using RESTful API

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is a new feature in SkillsServe.
How it works… This allows users to log into SkillsServe using Same Sign-On, adding an extra level of security. Same Sign-On previously had only limited availability, but is now open to use by more people.
Why is this beneficial? Same Sign-On makes logging into your SkillsServe account more secure.
Default or configurable? This is a configurable feature in SkillsServe 4.9. Please speak to your account manager for more details.



Slight Changes in the order of forms within the Forms Homepage Portlet

Is it a new feature or an upgrade? This is an upgrade to the Forms Portlet which is visible on the homepage of sites using Training & Compliance.
How it works… The Forms Homepage Portlet now displays incomplete forms/appraisals first, those which are yet to be started second, and forms/appraisals of managed staff third.
Why is this beneficial? Giving priority to incomplete forms/appraisals means there’s less chance of starting a new task before finishing an old one.
Default or configurable? This feature is automatically available in SkillsServe 4.9 when using the Forms Homepage Portlet.
